This is a practical assessment of basic manual handling tasks. It includes assessing load, planning the route, marking hazards, moving loads, mechanical assistance and different types of load e.g. bagged, sheets, loose materials etc. It is relevant to most staff that work in a practical job and will help them recognise safe practice. 

This qualification is made up of 3 mandatory units:
Unit 1    Assess manual handling operations
Unit 2    Lift and move load safely
Unit 3    Carry out a risk assessment for manual handling operations

Candidates must successfully achieve all Assessment Activities unless otherwise specified in both units. Candidates must be a minimum age of 16 or over.

- Reach the required standard in safe manual handling
-Operate within and comply with the legislative requirements
