Certificate in Stump Grinding (ASG02)

The use of stump grinders is increasing. They are very powerful machines, which need treating in a competent and professional manner. This practical assessment covers, includes pre-use checks and maintenance, identification of controls and instruments and operating a machine to remove a tree stump.

Mandatory Units of the qualifications
Unit 1    Prepare the stump Grinder for operation
Unit 2    Operate the stump grinder
Unit 3    Maintain the stump grinder

Candidates must successfully achieve all assessment activities in all three units.

Candidates must be a minimum age of 16 years or over.

Learning outcomes:
-Identify, inspect and comment on key parts of the machine
-Prepare the machine for work safely without risk to the operator, other people or the environment
-Carry out daily and routine maintenance on the machine
-Operate the machine safely and competently without risk to the operator, other people and the environment
-Replace cutters in accordance with the manufacturers instructions
-Prepare the machine for transportation.
