Certificate in Tree Climbing and Performing Aerial Rescue (ACTR02)

A pre requisite unit for any of the chain saw or electrical arboricultural units that involve working from within the tree. Covers knowledge of climbing equipment, accessing the tree with a rope and harness, moving around within the tree canopy and conducting a rescue to get a casualty down from a tree using their climbing system and the candidates climbing system.

The assessment contains 3 mandatory parts:
Part 1. Climb a Tree
Part 2. Conduct aerial rescue
Part 3. Identify tree species

Candidates must be a mimum age of 16 or over.

Learning outcomes:
The candidate will be able to:
1. Undertake a risk assessment of tree climbing operations
2. Select, inspect and use a range of tree climbing equipment
3. Safely climb a tree, move around the crown and descend to the ground
4. Carry out aerial rescues from different situations
